Community Betterment Grant Program

The Polk County Community Betterment Grant Program was designed to provide financial support to non-profit organizations that promote cultural, recreational, educational, and essential human services to our residents. Polk County has a rich history of partnering with public and private entities to provide effective programs and services to our community.The Board of Supervisors applauds your efforts to enhance the lives of those living in Polk County, Iowa.

Applications are accepted once a year between December 1st through February 28th. All applications must be submitted via the Polk County Online Application and Reporting System. Community Betterment Grant awards will be in the range of $500 to $10,000. Any application received after the deadline will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made. Polk County funds are prohibited from being expended on alcohol.

Community Development Grant Program

The Polk County Community Development Grant Program supports a limited number of large-scale projects within Polk County, Iowa. Community Development Grants provide funding in the range of $15,000 to $100,000. Due to the large number of requests, Polk County is unable to act favorably on all applications. Each application is evaluated on overall community impact, compliance with Polk County guidelines, and availability of funds. Applications are accepted once a year, between July 1st through August 31st. Any application received after the deadline will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.

Community Sponsorship Grant Program

The Polk County Community Sponsorship Program was designed to provide financial support to non-profit organizations for events such as fundraisers, festivals, and galas. Polk County has a rich history of partnering with public and private entities to provide effective programs and services to our community. The Board of Supervisors applauds your efforts to enhance the lives of those living in Polk County, Iowa.

Sponsorship applications are open-ended beginning July 1st. Non-profit organizations are eligible for one award per fiscal year. Applications must be submitted 90 days prior to the event through the Polk County Online Application and Reporting System. Sponsorship requests shall not exceed $5,000. Late submissions will not be accepted. Polk County funds are prohibited from being expended on alcohol, tobacco or lottery.
